Steph Elliott
Meet Steph.
Firecracker-fun-loving-hard-working-flippin’ awesome human and in Jo’s inimitable words, ‘On it!’
In her own words, she is: ‘driven, motivating, kind and loves a laugh.
As a player: tenacious, determined and a real team player. I love to push and encourage others.’
What more need be said?!
Well, for those of you who like a credential or two, Steph has plenty to show for her efforts:
Initially played at Durham University for 4 years, achieving 2 golds and 1 silver BUCS medal.
England U21’s, England and GB Senior. 15 GB caps (1 goal!).
Played at Holcombe for 7 seasons and gained promotion into the Premiership. Captained them for 4 years.
Moved to Surbiton and has just finished her 3rd season, captaining them in 2023. Won the league 2021, 2022, 2023.
Off the field of play, Steph enjoys catching up with friends, going to the gym and trying new things every now and again (you see, she is, in fact, human after all!).
She is currently Head of Hockey at St Teresa’s, Effingham and hopes one day to become a Director of Sport.
‘I thoroughly enjoy working with children of all ages and abilities to ensure they achieve their potential, not only on the hockey pitch, but to also develop a love for exercise and a knowledge of what a healthy lifestyle looks like.’
Finally, why does she do what she does? ‘Because I love the talented group I work with, the driven team I play hockey with, and I love staying fit and pushing myself and others to ‘succeed’.’
In parting, Steph leaves us with a little firecracking wisdom for the next generation:
‘Understand and expect to make sacrifices if you want to try and make it (and learn to enjoy pain 😂).’
